Topic: If you could ask for one thing this year from the gaming industry as a whole, what would it be and why?

While playing Fallout 3 a couple nights ago, I got an invite from my nephew to play Gears of War 2.  I just rolled my eyes and ignored it.  I’m so tired of multiplayer games because they’re not intriguing anymore.  The only one that caught my attention this year is Left 4 Dead.

Yes, it’s fun to play with friends cooperatively to reach the same goal.  It’s fun playing against people you know and chatting with them, instead of unresponsive A.I.  But enough is enough!

I’m tired of games where the multiplayer aspect is so hyped everyone gets disgustedly excited about it.  I’m tired of games that release with just a multiplayer option and no single-player campaign.  When a game relies too much on multiplayer to make it good, it’s an automatic loss.  In my opinion, the best games that released this year are games you played alone (MGS4, Fable 2, Fallout 3).  I should not have to play with someone else in order to enjoy a game.

So this year, I’m asking for more solid single-player campaigns: great storylines, characters, music and battle systems.  I want less invites in my inbox, and more “Is dat game n e good?” messages.  It would be great to have less headset wearing and more controller charging.  I’m asking the industry for less multiplayer!

P.S – Got a new 360!

My Fable II Item Giveaway! – CLOSED

November 20, 2008
Thumbs Up!

Thumbs Up!

Unfortunately, due to my previous Xbox 360 getting the Red Ring display error and my shitty Circuit City warranty, I no longer have my 20GB hard drive with my Fable 2 saved game.  All my items are gone! =(

When (and if) Circuit City sends me a replacement, I seriously doubt it will be with my old hard drive.

New Gamertag, Just For Fun!

November 19, 2008

I was at my brother’s house the other day and wanted to jump on his 360 for a few hours before going to work. I didn’t feel like downloading my gamertag so I decided to create a new one. I was stumped on what to name myself, so for inspiration I looked at my brother’s. He’s always been quite a creative one, and his tag is nerd witta gun. He also created the tag nun witta gun, which my little sister took… so you know I had to jump on the bandwagon!

Coming Soon: My nephew has a “witta gun” tag lined up. He knows exactly what he wants, he just needs people to file complaints against his gamertag so he can change it.

Looking For an Animal Crossing: Wild World Friend!

November 14, 2008

animal-crossing-wild-world-200603230910329031Today I was able to hook up my Nintendo DS to a Wi-Fi connection and I’m looking for friends to play with. I’m really excited because I need help in Animal Crossing: Wild World. Someone has to shop at my Nook store so it can upgrade to the next model. Please drop me a line if you can help!

Come, visit Oakvale and its pleasant residents. It’s November and the air is crisp. There are a variety of trees to shake, bearing either peaches, cherries, apples or coconuts.

Not that Bells are hard to come by, but I’m offering 100,000 to whoever helps me.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Online Woes

March 16, 2008

I’ve done just about everything in Super Smash Bros. Brawl – completed Subspace Emissary with my boyfriend, beat Classic mode on intense difficulty, and created a foolish looking stage. But when it comes to logging online and finding some meat to pwn, I have only fought a couple online battles after repeatedly trying to connect.

SSBB isn’t a game that focuses on its campaign mode. The heart of the game is in its multiplayer. So when you can’t even access the online feature to compete with other people, the game loses a big chunk of its appeal.

Guess we have to go looking for more Friend Codes.

‘Secrets’ is Ancient History

February 8, 2008

I recently parted ways with my old gamertag, Ancient Secrets, in exchange for a name given to me by my boyfriend. He gave me Triage Effect to describe how much damage I cause, and where people end up as a result.

This is actually a second attempt at a blog for me. The first one I had, Secrets’ Video Game Journal, started off well but began to seriously slump. This is a chance to redeem myself, to prove that I can maintain a blog solely focused on video games. And to be honest, I’m quite excited!

I want to write video game reviews, lists, and be analytical about what’s going on out there in the world of games. It’s my dream to run away to California to be a video game journalist, but for now I’ll stay in NYC keeping a free blog. It’s a start.
